Based on our inspection of many rental BCDs, the main reasons for BCD failure are:

INFLATOR — We took the time to study and analyze the inflators of various BCD brands on the market. We also examined which components are most likely to fail first, given that an inflator contains moving parts. Therefore, we incorporated all the best qualities and further refined our inflator design.

Using a Wraparound Jacket design, this BC is ideal for divers of any skill level. The Raptor is equipped with the AmScuD Durable Tilt Valve Power Inflator and an OPEV Dump Valve located on the bottom right side.

STITCHING AND MATERIAL — These two elements are interconnected. It took us years to realize that most brands simply use the most reliable materials, such as Cordura 1000. It is true that Cordura 1000 is exceptionally reliable; however, it is not well-suited for stitching. As tough as the material itself is, sewing Cordura 1000 will, over time, cause the seams to fail.

The AmScuD Ultimate Stabilizing Harness (USH) completely eliminates tank roll and provides an exceptional fit. The USH securely holds the air cylinder in place with optimally positioned rails, bringing the tank closer to the body to improve tank control while reducing weight. The Rite-Tite Buckle is a 2-position cam strap for quick and easy adjustment. Once the strap is threaded through the buckle, it stays in place without needing to be held, allowing for better control and stability. This feature is included in all AmScuD BCJs.

Adjustable Body Shoulder Straps provide exceptional comfort, and the Adjustable Waist Strap with Cummerbund ensures precise harness adjustment. All straps feature squeeze-style side-release buckles for easy donning and doffing. The BC features 4 resin plastic D-rings for accessory attachment and comes with a 3/8″ threaded low-pressure quick-disconnect hose.
