If you are not using steel cylinders, try to use one and you will soon realize what you have been missing. Faber can offer you the most comprehensive range of cylinders for scuba diving. No other manufacturer in the world can match their capabilities and the breath of their range. Faber Tanks and AMSCUD valves are nitrox ready.
Cylinders come equipped with a Pro valve that easily converts back and forth depending on the type of first stage regulator to be used in conjunction with the cylinder increasing the versatility of the tank. The construction allows the diver to remove lead weight from their weight belt or integrated weight system of the BCD, allowing the diver to better distribute weight by moving it to the rear of the BCD a great advantage when wearing a back-inflation style (Wing) BCD.
Aluminum cylinders, as we breathe the weight of air from them, create positive buoyancy at or near the end of a dive. The steel cylinder with its negative buoyancy throughout the dive allows you to shed the excess lead that is required to keep you properly trimmed while you dive an aluminum cylinder. Faber HP cylinders have a round bottom and come equipped with a cylinder boot.
The Faber cylinders are 3442 psi (237 bar) working pressure cylinders, are negatively buoyant from -8.05 lbs. to -9.08 lbs. (-3.65 kg to -4.11 kg) when full and buoyant characteristics from -1.74 lbs. to +1.45 lbs. (-0.79 kg to +0.66 kg) when empty. Cylinders are made from triple protected zinc sprayed and epoxy and polyurethane painted deep drawn chromium molybdenum steel. Cylinder has standard 3/4″-14 NPSM inlet threads. When shipped the tanks valves is not threaded to the cylinder, so the tank will require a visual inspection before being filled Note: All Faber cylinders meet certificated specifications of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) with DOT special permit number 13488 and Transport Canada (TC) with special permit number SU7694-237.
AmScuD’s Pro Valves are designed and manufactured for long life and heavy use. The Pro Valve is no exception. Valve is made of marine grade brass with triple bright chrome plating for long life protection in salt water. Precision machined from high tension brass and chrome plated the valve stems will give years of service and corrosion free operation. Easy grip soft rubber safety hand wheel with stainless steel insert ensures long life and large ribs make turning handle easy even when wearing gloves. This new unique safety hand wheel allows the diver to visually see if the valve is completely turned on and off with a set of colored rings that appear on the valve side of the hand wheel. If you see only red the valve is off. If you see only green the valve is completely open and ready for diving. This exclusive hand wheel takes the guess work out of knowing your valve is fully open and ready for diving.
Valve bonnets are O-ring sealed. You won’t need to crank on the valve when you open and close it with the 1.5-hand wheel rotation from full-on to fully-off. The valves seat assembly is Teflon coated for years of smooth operation and a one-piece safety plug protected within the valve body guards against damage during transport. The Pro Valve will accommodate both Yoke and DIN regulators with its removable 3,336 psi (230 bar) DIN insert which can be removed using a 1/4″ hex key wrench. Valve has a 5/32″ hex key dip tube and is Nitrox compatible up to 40%. Steel cylinders have round bottoms and come with cylinder boot. AmScuD’s Cylinder Boots are manufactured using high quality injection-molded construction with a self-draining and durable design. Boot protects the cylinder bottom from damage and allows the diver to stand the cylinder up right to aid in regulator and BCD mounting.
